The new Port Campus for the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design is located in Shed 21 on the Halifax waterfront. This place has been long known as the 'Ellis Island' of Canada, as it was the port of landing for over a million immigrants between 1928 and 1971.
The project consists of a 50,000 square foot renovation and a 20,000 square foot new addition. The renovated area includes 13 bays of the existing shed and will house offices, multi-use studios, fabrication studios, and craft based studios that will share a 200 foot long window on the north, waterside and a 200 foot long gallery on the landside.
